ROCK SOLID KEEPING MISSION STATEMENT
I started Rock Solid for one reason: to help keepers develop the proper techniques to succeed in their position.
All too often during a practice the goalkeepers skills are forgotten about. They are training with all of the field players, on field skills, and not training the skills a keeper needs to develop. Then, with no warm up, they are put in the goal for a shooting drill and expected to make the proper saves. I have been told by many coaches that they do not have the time in a practice, or the knowledge, to train the goal keeper position. The keeper is left with having to develop their skills outside of practice.
My mission is to teach keepers the proper skills, techniques, and philosophy, it takes to become a great keeper. I also strengthen their bodies through plyometric training to give them the explosive power a keeper needs. I not only train my keepers physically, but I also train them mentally. The keeper has the toughest position on the field, when they make a mistake the ball ends up in the back of the net. It’s important that a keeper knows how to handle every situation that comes their way. I build their confidence through repetition in training. I also teach them visualization drills that will help their minds become relaxed and focused on their game. As a keeper develops their self confidence, it is noticed not only on the field, but also off.
I promise to give all of my keepers a 110% every time I train them, and to do my best to help them become a ROCK SOLID KEEPER.
Truly,
Chad Lorenz
